Two additional weeks to apply for Recharging Advocacy for Rights in Europe (RARE) from October 2022 to June 2024. RARE is co-organised by partners from academia and civil society: the Hertie School, the Hungarian Helsinki Committee, the Netherlands Helsinki Committee and the Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights in Poland. It is an exceptional opportunity for human rights defenders and civic space advocates from across the EU to meet, learn and strategise together. Apply by 5 August 2022 to join the group and take action together for civic space and the rule of law in Europe.

As noted by Jakub Jaraczewski, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has affirmed that the new Polish law on Supreme Court does not satisfy the milestone requirements that would unlock the recovery fund. Read his thread.

As reported by MEP Daniel Freund, the measures proposed by the Hungarian government do not eliminate the concerns notified by the Commission. The rule of law mechanism will, thus, continue against Hungary and billions of euros will remain frozen. Read more.
