PermalinkUK bill to switch off Northern Ireland Brexit rules clears first hurdle, writes Politico. MPs voted 295 to 221 in favor of the Northern Ireland Protocol Bill and the law will now proceed at the committee stage. But the plan, already labeled illegal by the European Union, has also been criticised by former Conservative Prime Minister Theresa May, who noted that the bill is in violation of international law that it would harm UK credibility.
